About us

Who we are

The Joseph Kitaka Heartbeat Initiative is a registered charity dedicated to saving lives by tackling preventable heart disease. Founded in memory of Joseph Kitaka, whose life was cut short by a sudden heart attack, the initiative was created to ensure others do not have to suffer the same fate. We believe that with the right knowledge, early detection, and support, every heartbeat can be protected.

The Joseph Kitaka Heartbeat Initiative was born out of loss — but it continues with hope. After Joseph’s passing due to a heart attack, his family and friends committed to turning grief into action.
Every year, millions silently battle heart disease. Many never know the warning signs until it’s too late. We exist to change that story: through education, screenings, and community care, we want to ensure more families get more time with their loved ones.
